After breaking records to become the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy series in history and landing top honors — including the award for Best Comedy Series — at last year’s Emmy Awards, the second season of “Ted Lasso” was recognized with 20 nominations for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The cast of the second season earned repeat nominations for last year’s Best Actor in a Comedy Sudeikis, Best Supporting Actor winner in a Comedy Goldstein and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Waddingham. The series also scored first-time acting nominations for Niles, Richardson and Jimoh, as well as nominations for stars Temple, Nick Mohammed, Harriet Walter and James Lance.

In “Ted Lasso,” Sudeikis plays a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.

In addition to starring, Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence via his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold also serves as an executive producer, with Liza Katzer as co-executive producer. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, and is based on the preexisting format and characters from NBC Sports.

Seasons one and two of “Ted Lasso” are now streaming on Apple TV+.
