Apple Fitness+, the first fitness experience built around Apple Watch, brings studio-style workouts and guided meditations to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and is now available in 21 countries.
Apple Fitness+ — the first fitness service built entirely around Apple Watch and designed to be welcoming to all — is available starting today in Saudi Arabia, as well as 14 additional new countries around the world to bring studio-style workouts and meditations to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, so users can work out or meditate anytime, anywhere. Today, Fitness+ welcomes Austria, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates to get started and live a healthier day. The service is also already available in the US, the UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Fitness+ is available in English with subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.
“Fitness+ was built to be welcoming to all, with workouts and meditations for everyone no matter where they are in their fitness journey, all led by a diverse team of charismatic, motivating, and approachable trainers,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s vice president of Fitness Technologies. “We hear every day from users whose lives have been changed by Fitness+. These inspirational stories have pushed us to bring the service to as many users as we can, which is why we are so excited to bring the health benefits of Fitness+ to 15 new countries, so more people around the world can have a place where they feel motivated to get healthier and more active each day.”

Studio-Style Workouts Powered by Apple Watch and Fueled by Motivating Music

Fitness+ intelligently and seamlessly incorporates key workout metrics users love from Apple Watch directly to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, for a personalized and immersive experience that users can complete wherever and whenever it is convenient for them — whether at home, outside in the open air, or even in their hotel room while traveling. During key moments in the workout, personal metrics from Apple Watch are animated on screen. For example, when the trainer says to check heart rate, the heart rate metrics are spotlighted; during tough intervals, a countdown timer starts to help users get through to the last second; and when they close their Activity rings, a celebration happens right on the workout screen.

Eleven different workout types are available across a range of durations, including: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Strength, Yoga, Dance, Core, Cycling, Pilates, Treadmill (for running and walking), Rowing, and Mindful Cooldown. For those who enjoy a little competition, HIIT, Treadmill, Cycling, and Rowing workouts have an optional Burn Bar that shows, in real time, how a user’s effort stacks up against anyone who has previously completed the same workout. All of the workouts also include a Fitness+ trainer demonstrating modifications, so there’s always someone to follow, no matter the user’s ability.
Workouts are fueled by music from today’s top artists and designed to keep users motivated from start to finish, whether their workout is 5 or 45 minutes. For Apple Music subscribers, their favorite music from Fitness+ workouts can also be easily saved and listened to later, during a workout or otherwise. When searching for a workout or meditation, users can use the intuitive filtering tool to choose what is most important to them — whether it’s the workout type, the trainer, the duration, the music, or the equipment needed.

Meditation

Fitness+ also offers meditations to help users develop a regular meditation routine and improve their overall sense of well-being. Users can choose from nine meditation themes — Purpose, Kindness, Gratitude, Awareness, Creativity, Wisdom, Calm, Focus, and Resilience — for an engaging video experience alongside the Fitness+ trainers. Each practice is 5, 10, or 20 minutes long.

In addition to the high-quality video experience on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, the same meditations are uploaded each week in audio form in the Mindfulness app on Apple Watch, so users can experience Meditation at their convenience anytime, anywhere — all that is needed is a pair of AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones. Users who want to practice meditation while moving will also be able to track their activity with the Workout app on their Apple Watch during their meditation, allowing them to meditate while walking, hiking, or stretching.

Workout types include Cycling, Dance, HIIT, Pilates, Strength, Yoga, and Treadmill across music genres such as Upbeat Anthems, Latin Grooves, Top Country, and Hip-Hop/R&B. Inspired by these workouts, Apple Music has a complete playlist for each individual Artist Spotlight musician, including motivating, high-energy tracks from their entire catalogs, as well as collaborations and remixes, for a one-of-a-kind workout soundtrack.

Work Out or Meditate Together with SharePlay

Fitness+ subscribers can also work out or meditate together with family and friends using SharePlay, to help one another stay motivated and accountable on their fitness journey. Fitness+ subscribers can use SharePlay to start a group workout or meditation with up to 32 of their friends and family while using FaceTime on an iPhone or iPad, and the selected Fitness+ session will stream completely in sync for every participant. Once on a FaceTime call, users will navigate to the Fitness app, select a workout or meditation, see their friends and family onscreen, and get started. SharePlay also works with Apple TV so users can follow the workout on a big screen while staying connected with friends on FaceTime using their iPhone or iPad. When working out in a group through SharePlay, users will see their metrics and progress toward closing their Activity rings, while also seeing and hearing friends. During a workout, when someone moves ahead on the Burn Bar or closes their Activity rings, everyone working out will be notified so they can celebrate together.

Time to Walk

With Fitness+, users can also get moving with Time to Walk — an inspiring audio experience on Apple Watch designed to encourage people to get active by walking more often and reap the benefits from one of the healthiest activities. Each original Time to Walk episode, ranging from 25 to 40 minutes, invites users to immerse themselves in a walk alongside influential and interesting people as they share thoughtful and meaningful stories, photos, and music. Each episode is shaped by the guest’s personal, life-shaping moments and includes lessons learned, meaningful memories, thoughts on purpose and gratitude, moments of levity, and other thought-provoking topics, recorded while walking outside or in locations that are meaningful to them. The narrative comes to life through photos that appear on Apple Watch, perfectly timed to amplify a corresponding moment the guest shares. Following their stories, the experience extends with the guest introducing a short playlist of songs that has given them motivation and inspiration, so the listener can continue their walk to a soundtrack intimately connected to each guest. All that is needed is an Apple Watch and AirPods or Bluetooth headphones.
The series is now in its second season and has featured guests including Dolly Parton, Anthony Joshua, Jane Fonda, Camila Cabello, Kurt Fearnley, Naomi Campbell, Bebe Rexha, Shawn Mendes, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and more. For Apple Watch customers who use a wheelchair, Time to Walk becomes Time to Walk or Push, and automatically starts an Outdoor Wheelchair Walk Pace workout.
